NYS DEC website sucks

I was born and brought up in Upstate NY and eventually moved elsewhere.  I have been a hunter in NYS for years and buying hunting licenses for years.  Now, I cannot purchase a Big Game hunting license because I cannot sign on to their super deluxe computer system.  NYS makes it difficult for me to pay them money.  NYS sucks.

  I AGREE 100%. I still UNFORTUNATELY live in this state that’s turned to ____. The “HUNT NY” app was ok at best, so what did NY do?…… they F___ed it up so now you can’t log in. I hunt and fish in other states like Florida and it couldn’t be any easier.

  I think the state does this ___ on purpose. That’s fine, I’m leaving this hellhole of a state very soon.

  It definitely needs some work.  I struggled getting my 12 year old son his hunting license.
  
  Step 1:  Created a DECALS account for him.  I selected "Parent NY Drivers License" and entered my NYS driver's license number.  Got an error.  "This identifier is already in use".  Hmm, OK.  Luckily he has a passport, so I selected that option instead.  Account created.  DEC ID obtained.
  
  Step 2:  Click "Buy Licenses" on the DECALS site.  Website says "Based on your profile information, we are showing you Non-Resident items."  This makes no sense.  His address is my address.  We live in New York State.  A window pops up saying, "Identification Required for Transaction."   He obviously doesn't have a driver's license, so I selected "Parent NY Drivers License" and I entered my driver's license number and clicked "Submit."   Error!  "This identifier is already in use."   I ended up choosing "US Driver's License" and used my NYS driver's license number.  That got me past the "Identification Required for Transaction" screen, and magically switched to showing Resident instead of Non-Resident license options.  But, it also now has my NYS driver license listed under his account and there's no way of deleting it.
  
  Step 3:  Tried linking our accounts.  Doesn't work.  When I login to my DECALS account and try to link him, it says I can't do that because my son's account already exists.  I give up.  This website is a mess.

  Mostly because it's run by an independent company that NYS DEC hires. LoL 😆. They aren't even in NYS.

  Is there any good reason that a simple log in works so poorly?
